On July 24, 2013, Wednesday, from 11:00 to 12:00 am Central European Time a live webinar will be held on the new instrument supporting the classification of goods and services for the purposes of the registration of marks – Taxonomy. Taxonomy is a new hierarchical structure within the Nice Classification of goods and services, which makes the classification of goods and services for the purposes of the registration of marks easier and faster. The taxonomy structure has been developed jointly by OHIM and the National Intellectual Property Office of the European Union in cooperation with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). From July 1st, 2013, users can use free the taxonomy structure at the following web address: http://tmclass.tmdn.org.
During the entire month of July, “Live chat” will be at disposal of the users on the homepage of TMclass (http://tmclass.tmdn.org/ec2/). Using this tool, users will have the opportunity to ask questions (only in English) on taxonomy and classification of goods and services and receive answers in real time.

CIVIPOL held a conference on May 22nd, 2013 at hotel Sense to mark the opening of its office in Sofia. OHIM, in cooperation with the European national offices for trade marks and designs is working on the creation of projects for electronic services. Projects relating to electronic filing of trade marks and designs are intended to be implemented in the Patent Office of the Republic of Bulgaria by the end of 2013. Furthermore, a development of projects for electronic renewal, electronic filing of oppositions and requests for revocation and invalidity is also expected. The main advantage of the project is that the electronic services will simplify the access to applying of trade marks and designs and subsequent proceedings for the users of the systems and will improve the quality of administrative services by optimizing and streamlining the procedures. Users will be able to use the systems for electronic services through the website of the Patent Office of Republic of Bulgaria, without the need of electronic signature.
